EIG Signs 51K SF Lease at Watergate 600 in Washington, DC

EIG Global Energy Partners signed a lease for 51,000 square feet of space at 600 New Hampshire Avenue NW in Washington, D.C., according to a press release from building owner WashREIT.
The deal closed on March 8, according to a WashREIT spokeswoman, who would not disclose the asking rent at 12-story property known as Watergate 600. EIG, which provides capital to global energy firms, will relocate to Watergate 600 from its current offices at 1700 Pennsylvania Avenue NW in January 2020, per the release.

Located adjacent to the Kennedy Center and walking distance from Foggy Bottom Metro station, the 300,000 square-foot-office building is also occupied by Atlantic Media, Interior Architects, Gray Plant Mooty, according to the WashREIT spokeswoman.
WashREIT purchased the property for $135 million from publisher David Bradley and his wife Katherine Bradley in 2017. Since then, the firm renovated the building’s 2,300 square-foot conference and entertainment center, fitness club, and lobby.
Amy Bowser and Seth Benhard of JLL (JLL) represented WashREIT in the deal, while Malcolm Marshall of Cushman & Wakefield (CWK) represented EIG. The brokers did not return Commercial Observer’s request for comment.
