Accounting firm Friedman LLP will relocate after five decades in Midtown to Brookfield Property PartnersOne Liberty Plaza, Commercial Observer has learned.

Friedman inked a 10-year deal for 44,767 square feet on the entire 21st floor of the 54-story office tower between Church Street and Broadway, according to a spokesman for Newmark (NMRK) Knight Frank, which brokered the deal for the firm. Asking rent was $62 per square foot.

The firm’s headquarters has been in 39,000 square feet at 1700 Broadway for more than 50 years but Friedman decided to move Downtown because of the “24/7, 365-day community Lower Manhattan has transformed into,” NKF’s Peter Shimkin, who brokered the deal with colleague David Falk, said in a statement.

“Friedman selected One Liberty Plaza because it’s the most conveniently located Downtown building,” Shmikin added.

Brookfield handled the deal in-house with a team of Mikael Nahmias, Jerry Larkin, David McBride and Justin Coulter.

“One Liberty Plaza has become a destination of choice for firms that are re-imagining their workplace,” Nahmias said in a statement.

Friedman plans to move into the 2.3-million-square-foot office tower in the summer of 2019. It will join other tenants including the New York City Economic Development Corporation, insurance firm Aon and Business Insider.
