reprintsThe Bronx industrial market is booming, and the latest evidence of its resurgence comes with the leasing of an entire warehouse in the Unionport section of the southeastern Bronx.
Landlord Simone Development Companies has leased a 41,000-square-foot building at 1185 Commerce Avenue to a medical equipment supply company and a firm that produces meters and software to track electrical, gas and water utilities, according to information from Simone’s spokesman.
Landauer Medstar, which provides medical supplies to healthcare institutions throughout the Mid-Atlantic, inked a 10-year, 27,845-square-foot lease for its third location in New York State. Frank Dean and Brian Cleva of Cleva/Philips Real Estate Services Corp. represented the tenant in the deal.
“It was a good deal for both sides in a vibrant Bronx market,” Cleva told Commercial Observer. “Simone is a great outfit to work with and they do everything in an extremely professional manner.”
Aclara, an outfit that offers tech solutions to utility companies, signed a 13,526-square-foot, five-year lease for the remainder of the property. Michael McCarthy of Cushman and Wakefield handled the transaction on behalf of Aclara and didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment made via a spokesperson.
Asking rent in the building is $18.50 a square foot, per the landlord’s spokesman.
Simone Metro Properties‘ James MacDonald and Josh Gopan negotiated the deal in-house for the landlord.
