Made Man Barbershop Bringing Cuts to Garment District

Made Man Barbershop—which Time Out has called one of the best salons for men’s haircuts—has inked a deal to open a new location in the Garment District, its first outside of Chelsea, Commercial Observer has learned.

The antique-filled barbershop signed a 10-year lease for a 1,131-square-foot space on the ground floor of Empire State Realty Trust’s 1400 Broadway between West 38th and West 39th Streets, according to a spokeswoman for ESRT. The asking rent, as per the spokeswoman, was $130 per square foot. The shop is slated to open in September.

The deal comes on the heels of ESRT signing a lease with Maui Onion Poke Bar to take over space at ESRT’s nearby 501 Seventh Avenue.

“Maui Onion is a popular healthy concept, and Made Man Barbershop is the latest hip stylist; both are perfect additions to the neighborhood,” said Thomas Durels, the executive vice president of real estate for ESRT.

Marc Sitt of Kassin Sabbagh Realty represented Made Man in the deal while landlord ESRT handled it with an in-house team of Fred Posniak and Shanae Ursini, according to a spokeswoman for ESRT.

Sitt did not respond to requests for comment about the deal.

Made Man will join other retail tenants like Maison Kayser, Chipotle and Subway at 1400 Broadway.

The outpost will be the barbershop’s fourth in the city and its first outside of Chelsea, according to a spokeswoman for ESRT.
