Upscale British men’s retailer New & Lingwood has leased a storefront for a New York City flagship on the Upper East Side, Commercial Observer has learned. This will mark the company’s first store in the U.S.

The men’s clothes and accessories shop has inked a long-term deal for a 2,500-square-foot retail space at 970 Lexington Avenue between East 70th and East 71st Streets. Asking rent for the store was $25,000 a month, according to broker Nicholas Judson of Judson Realty, who handled both sides of the transaction. The length of the lease wasn’t disclosed.

Judson and his colleague Stuart Ellman brokered the deal with landlord GEF Development.

“They were focused on the Upper East Side buyer,” he said. “They see a lot of people who come to their stores in London live in this area of the Upper East Side.”

New & Lingwood has two U.K. stores—one in Eton, the location of the famous boys’ prep school, and another in London.

He added that there’s been a big influx of British retailers coming to New York City recently, including Todd Snyder by Madison Square Park, Thom Sweeney in Soho and Harry’s of London and Richard James at East 57th Street and Park Avenue.
