Renfro Corporation Inks 29K-SF Deal at 1400 Broadway

Sock maker Renfro Corporation is relocating its offices from NoMad to the Garment District.

Last month, the Mount Airy, N.C.-based legwear company leased 29,952 square feet on part of the 28th and all of the 29th floors at Empire State Realty Trust’s 1400 Broadway between West 38th and West 39th Streets near Bryant Park, according to ESRT’s second-quarter earnings report. A spokeswoman for the landlord told Commercial Observer that the asking rent was $64 a square foot.

Renfro will leave 95 Madison Avenue between East 28th and 29th Streets, a 1912 neo-Renaissance office property known as the Emmet Building.

The manufacturer’s New York office houses 45 employees and handles the marketing, design and sales of “Hot Sox,” one of Renfro’s high-fashion sock brands that focuses on bold designs, according to the company’s website. It also markets and designs hosiery and socks for Ralph Lauren and Fruit of the Loom.

James Robbins and Michael Poch of CBRE (CBRE) represented the tenant. ESRT was represented in-house by Keith Cody, along with Scott KlauErik HarrisNeil Rubin of Newmark (NMRK) Knight Frank. CBRE didn’t immediately return a request for comment.
