Toronto-based brokerage Avison Young has lured away Dan Gorczycki, formerly a managing director at Savills Studley, as a senior director in the New York City office, Commercial Observer has learned.

Mr. Gorczycki will handle debt and equity capital placements with a focus on acquisition financing, construction financing and equity raises. He will be on David Eyzenberg’s team, a source said, and report to Arthur Mirante and A. Mitti Liebersohn.

Mr. Gorczycki—also a columnist with our paper—comes to Avison Young after 15 years at Savills Studley (he was with Savills prior to the 2014 merger of Savills and Studley and worked with Savills’ predecessor company Granite Partners, where he was head of the debt group.)

During his tenure, he’s placed debt on several notable assets, including 600 Madison Avenue in New York, 33 Arch Street in Boston, 18 Park Avenue in Jersey City and the largest ever marina financing on a portfolio of marinas in Tampa, Naples, and Key West, Fla.

Prior to Savills Studley, Mr. Gorczycki had stints at HFF, Dorman & Wilson and Landauer. He holds an MBA from New York University.

Avison Young now has 36 U.S. offices. The firm has recently expanded its New York presence, hiring away JLL Vice Chairman A. Mitti Liebersohn in April, and tripling its footprint here in the last year alone, our source said.
