Clothing Brand Relocates Within Garment District

Romeo & Juliet Couture, the popular contemporary fashion brand run by David Shamouelian, has signed a five-year lease at Savitt Partners530 Seventh Avenue between West 38th and West 39th Streets.

Commercial Observer has learned that the company, which launched in 1999 and whose clothing have been worn by celebrities including Leighton Meester and Blake Lively, both of Gossip Girl fame, will open a showroom in a 4,800-square-foot space at the property. The floor plan also includes a private terrace.

Romeo & Juliet will be moving from its home at 499 Seventh Avenue between West 36th and West 37th Streets, just blocks away from its new location.

Michael Heaner of the Kaufman Organization represented R&J in the deal.

“David Shamouelian is a very creative individual and was in search of a space that would reflect his vision for Romeo and Juliet Couture—530 Seventh Avenue certainly embodies R&J’s unique style and his new space on the 22nd floor allows him to continue to elevate the brand’s presence in the fashion industry,” said Mr. Heaner in prepared remarks.

Nicole Goetz and Brian Neugeboren of Savitt Partners represented the landlord. Neither Ms. Goetz nor Mr. Neugeboren immediately responded to requests for comment.

While the details of the transaction were not disclosed, asking rents were in the high-$60s per square foot, according to the Kaufman Organization.

Built in 1929, the property at 530 Seventh Avenue is a 490,000-square-foot Art Deco building.
