reprintsBFX Studio is coming to the Upper East Side.
The boutique fitness gym has taken 10,700 square feet on part of the ground floor as well as the entire basement in Thor Equities’ 1231 Third Avenue on the Upper East Side, according to Crain’s New York Business, which first reported the deal.
The 15-year lease was signed earlier this month, according to a spokesman for Thor, who declined to disclose the asking rents.
Ripco Real Estate’s Richard Skulnik, who brokered the deal on behalf the gym, declined to comment.
Thor purchased the four-story residential property on the corner of East 71st Street in November 2013 for $52.5 million, according to property records. The company spent millions on renovating the mixed-use property, including the retail space.
BFX Studio’s space, which includes over 26 feet of direct retail frontage on Third Avenue, will become the third New York City location for BFX Studio and is slated to open in late 2015.
According to its website, BFX has locations in Chelsea and the Financial District.
“We are thrilled to welcome one of New York’s fastest growing fitness studios to this premier property,” said Melissa Gliatta, executive vice president of Thor Equities, in a release from the firm. “BFX Studio’s boutique approach to fitness and well-being is sure to resonate with the vibrant Upper East Side community.”
