Until now a rising star at CBRE – in 2012, the Real Estate Board of New York named him the “Most Promising Commercial Salesperson of the Year,” a first for CBRE – Mr. Winter had worked as part of the leasing team overseeing the monstrous west side project.

“It’s truly going to be transformational,” he told The Commercial Observer last month, referring to the Hudson Yards development project. “It’s been eye-opening and incredible to be a part of.”

At CBRE Mr. Winter was part of the team that brought Coach, L’Oreal and SAP to the development’s South Tower, a 1.7-million-square-foot, nearly 900-foot-tall office building, designed by Pedersen Fox Associates, with ground floor retail space and 15,000 square feet of terrace space on three levels, slated for occupancy in 2015.

“Stephen has already been integral in attracting world class brands to the Hudson Yards development in his role at CBRE,” said Related’s Hudson Yards president Jay Cross in the statement, first reported in The Real Deal. “I could not be more pleased that he will bring his expertise full time to Related.”

The 26-acre site will include more than 6 million square feet of commercial space, 750,000 square feet of retail space, about 5,000 residences, a new school, and a luxury hotel. It is located near the West Side Highway, the Lincoln Tunnel, and the extension of the No. 7 subway line, scheduled to open in 2014, will connect to the heart of the neighborhood.
