Bernard Chaus will be moving around the block in the Garment District.
The fashion accessories company for women will be leaving its office at 530 Seventh Avenue, between 37th and 38th Streets, to 148 West 37th Street. The new office will span 7,200 square feet.
Established in 1975, the company has grown to offer a range of high quality career and casual sportswear for women. The clothing, manufactured in Asia, is sold throughout the United States at over 4,000 department and specialty stores.
Bernard Chaus will utilize the office space with housing their general, executive, and administrative offices in addition to a showroom.
“The Garment District continues to be a prime location throughout the city for many fashion tenants,” said James Buslik, a principal of Adams & Co. and a representative on the deal. “This new location for Bernard Chaus provides them with the necessities that will help support their business needs, and we look forward to seeing them grow.”
Details of the lease were not disclosed but the asking rent was reportedly $35 per square foot and the lease was set for ten years.
savitt partners LLC represented Bernard Chaus in the transaction. Mr. Buslik was on the other side of the table representing the landlord, Fashion Associates. In addition to handling all leasing activity, Adams & Co. manages the building. The full service firm all owns multiple specialty buildings throughout the Garment District, like the Fashion Accessories Center on 10 West 33rd Street.
Bernard Chaus will join several notable tenants in 148 West 37th Street, such as Valentine USA, Tribu International, and Eastern Silk Mills, which had leased 7,200 on the third floor last spring.
