Harbor Freight Tools has inked a deal for a location in Staten Island.

The nationwide tool and equipment retailer is set to open a new store within proximity to Home Depot and Lowe’s on 2295 Forest Avenue.

“Harbor Freight targets a similar customer base, [so] this was one of the big factors in their decision to locate here,” said Timothy King, a managing partner at CPEX and a broker on the deal.

The existing 19,000-square-foot, one-story building will be demolished and replaced with another building that is approximately the same size, Mr. King explained.

The building will sit on a small part of the property which totals nearly 120,000 square feet, or 237 feet by 512 feet.

The retailer currently operates over 400 locations within the United States but only a handful of stores in New York. The closest, nestled in the northern and eastern suburbs, are located in Poughkeepsie and Bay Shore.

“This is a strong retail corridor,” further noted Mr. King in reference to the neighboring tenants that include Kohl‘s, Bally Total Fitness, Dollar Tree, GNC, Dunkin Donuts, and United Artists Theatre. “Staten Island, like all of [New York City], is seriously unrestored and retail thrives here.”

Mr. King was joined by his colleagues, managing director Ryan Condren and associate Kristina Triglia, in representing the landlord in the transaction. Doug Weinstein and Sholom & Zuckerbrot Realty represented the tenant.
