reprintsSterling Equities Chairman (and owner of the The New York Mets) Fred Wilpon has made a modest contribution to the campaign of presidential hopeful Mitt Romney, according to The New York Post.
Mr. Wilpon gave $2,500 to the Republican nominee, reportedly at the urging of New York Jets owner Woody Johnson.
A spokesman for Mr. Wilpon could not immediately comment on the contribution.
Mr. Wilpon is the second notable New York City real estate figure to make a donation to Mr. Romney’s presidential campaign. Last December, Stephen Ross, CEO of Related Companies, donated $100,000 to Restore Our Future, a super PAC created in support of Mr. Romney’s campaign, according to public records.
