The campaign’s second ad touts his support from independent Mayor Bloomberg and Democratic former Mayor Ed Koch.
Encouraging disaffected Democrats is a necessity for any statewide Republican to overcome the party gap in liberal-leaning New York state, but this year, it also serves to put a little distance between a down-ballot candidate like Donovan and the controversial top of the ticket.
