As ever, Savills bangs its drum to the beat of solely representing tenants. The last year has underlined the confidence it holds in its business model.

“This is a critical period for occupiers, and the value of having a firm like Savills, dedicated exclusively to their representation, cannot be overstated,” Janet Woods said in a statement. “Our commitment to the tenant ensures that they receive experienced and credible advocacy, especially during challenging times. Despite industry headwinds, our strategic growth initiatives in New York, spearheaded by myself, David Goldstein and Mitti Liebersohn, underscore our dedication to investing in our people and services to ensure top-tier advocacy for our occupiers and broader client base.”

Such tenacious tenant advocacy was in evidence just last month by American Eagle Outfitters’ two office leasing deals for 338,085 square feet at 63 Madison Avenue. Savills’ Liebersohn, Goldstein, Anna Erickson, Nate Brzozowski and William Demuth arranged the deals for American Eagle.

Savills’ notable 2023 leasing achievements in the New York area included representing Braze for 92,306 square feet at 63 Madison Avenue; BDT and MSD Capital for 71,757 square feet at 550 Madison Avenue; SVB Securities for 68,183 square feet at 1301-1315 Avenue of the Americas; STV for 65,248 feet at the Empire State Building; and The Children’s Place for 120,000 feet in a restructure/renewal deal at 500 Plaza Drive in Secaucus, N.J.

In addition, Savills represented the New York School Construction Authority last year in three sales transactions totaling $99.25 million.

Nationally, Savills represented tenants in major leases that included Chedraui USA for 1,422,524 square feet in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. — the largest industrial deal in 2023 in a Southern California full of big deals. The firm also represented Sony Pictures in a 225,239-square-foot lease in Los Angeles, the largest office lease in that market, as well as Xcel Energy in a 220,172-square-foot deal in Denver, the second-largest office lease in that city.
