Senior associate at JLL
Lance Yasinsky had a bit of a rough start to his brokerage career.
He signed his offer letter for his first job out of college at JLL the day the COVID-19 lockdowns were announced in 2020. He was then out for a few months after he had to get knee surgery, and on top of that ruptured a quadriceps tendon.
“I started my career in crutches,” the San Francisco native said. “It was an interesting way to start my career.”
However, Yasinsky was undeterred. He was able to spend the pandemic months learning as much as he could about the industry, soaking up advice from veterans such as Mitchell Konsker.
“Now we’re finally reaping some of the benefits of this,” Yasinsky said.
Those benefits include helping three growing startups rearrange their footprints in Two Trees Management’s Williamsburg, Brooklyn, portfolio. Fintech firm Chrono-graph wanted to double its space at 10 Grand Street earlier than expected, while online marketplace Whop wanted to leave that building for bigger digs but had time left on its lease. At the same time, AI firm Axion Ray had just closed a $16 million funding round and needed space.
Yasinsky was able to move Chronograph to a full floor at 10 Grand, sublease Chronograph’s old space to Axion Ray, and move Whop to 9,555 square feet at the recently opened The Refinery at Domino, negotiating with Two Trees to absorb Whop’s old space at 10 Grand.
“Everyone came out happy,” Yasinsky said. “It was a puzzle that was very fun to solve.”
Aside from the Brooklyn deals, Yasinsky brokered Berkley Insurance’s 60,000-square-foot renewal for landlord BGO at 757 Third Avenue in 2022.
When not working, the all-healed-up East Village resident enjoys traveling the world. He was planning a trip to Norway as of early June.
