Over their 20-year career together, Douglas Elliman’s Fredrik Eklund and John Gomes have become known as “the brokers to the stars.”
That’s largely due to their long resume of A-list celebrities they’ve helped to sell and buy homes, including the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker, Gigi Hadid, Justin Timberlake, Daniel Craig, Jennifer Lopez and Jonah Hill (and many more).
Eklund and Gomes themselves have become celebrities over the years, following their time on Bravo’s “Million Dollar Listing,” which reached more than 1.6 million viewers at its peak.
“Being on reality TV, your business multiples by 100,” Gomes said. “You get internationally known. Wherever we go, whatever we do, people recognize us. I always assume people know nothing, but we get that reaction a lot.”
Eklund, who is originally from Sweden, appeared on “Million Dollar Listing” for 11 years, giving him more than 1.4 million followers on Instagram and a lifetime of real estate knowledge.
“It was exciting and fun, especially for me, because I took a lot of my craziness out on TV, and it was like elevated therapy,” Eklund said. “We went to the Emmy Awards twice. People called us the kings of New York.”
But both Eklund and Gomes are using that fame to elevate their business.
The Eklund-Gomes team at Douglas Elliman — the firm’s top and largest team with about 100 agents — does roughly $4 billion in transactions annually and has a current pipeline of about 42 projects in New York and Florida.
In June 2024, the team sold the duplex penthouse at Central Park tower for
$115 million, marking the first nine-figure residential sale in New York City since late 2021. The team also recently launched sales at the Florian at 350 East 18th Street, Arloparc at 126 East 86th Street and the Maverick at 215 West 28th Street.
The plan is to keep the success going.
“The Eklund-Gomes team is bigger than me, bigger than Fred,” Gomes said. “It’s this behemoth of a force that is going to be here for a long time.”
