Heidi Steinegger, 29
Assistant vice president of leasing at RXR
Real estate is in Heidi Steinegger’s blood, but when she started a communications degree at the University of Miami, it wasn’t necessarily in the cards. A summer office leasing internship at Newmark and a post-grad stint with her family’s real estate development business in Darien, Conn., convinced her otherwise.
Steinegger joined RXR as a leasing analyst in 2022. She was promoted to assistant vice president of leasing early last year, upping her deal-making capacity across a five-building portfolio of office and retail. In the trailing 12 months, Steinegger has worked on roughly 200,000 square feet of transactions, including two transactions spanning 40,000 square feet total for New York State at RXR’s 32 Old Slip.
“I’m hoping to double the deal velocity that I’m working on this year, and it seems achievable with how hot the market’s been,” Steinegger said.
As someone who spends her off hours searching for the best fitness studios and restaurants in New York City, Steinegger thrives on finding the perfect space for prospective tenants.
“People want to love the place that they work in every day, and it’s on us and our industry to make sure that that’s achievable, whether it’s a 1,500-square-foot tenant or a million-square-foot tenant,” she said.
Steinegger also facilitated professional services firm Guidehouse’s relocation to more than 45,000 square feet at 75 Rockefeller Plaza, while simultaneously closing Erste Bank’s 15,000-square-foot renewal there. On the retail side, Steinegger helped place restaurant chains Naya at 1285 Avenue of the Americas and Dos Toros at 237 Park Avenue.
Steinegger is an active member of RXR’s Women’s Initiative Committee, which creates opportunities for mentorship and visibility for women across the company. She is also a member of the Real Estate Board of New York’s Next Generation Committee for Leasing and the Young Men’s and Women’s Real Estate Association of New York.
Outside of the professional sphere, she participates in Cycle for Survival, a charity program that supports cancer research.
