In an oceanside market with a flurry of transaction activity, it’s easy to get swept up in the wave, but some firms more than others have plenty to shell-ebrate this past year. 

For example: Walker & Dunlop, which has arranged more than 70 deals in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties since 2020, totaling $7 billion. The team’s reach is so deep their competitors need scuba gear just to keep up, and W&D just strengthened its capital markets advisory presence even further by relocating Michael Stepniewski, a senior director in the firm, from Manhattan to Miami. In his new role, Stepniewski will focus solely on South Florida while leveraging the firm’s significant infrastructure to serve its clients.

The team led by Stepniewski, Dustin Stolly and Keith Kurland (along with Aaron Appel, Jonathan Schwartz, Adam Schwartz and Sean Reimer) has a list of recently closed transactions that reads like a who’s who of South Florida heavies. Deals range from the $335 million loan for L&L Holding Company and Oak Row Equities’ Wynwood Plaza, to Tyko Capital’s $410 million construction loan for Terra and AB Asset Management’s the Well Coconut Grove, to the $465 million acquisition and predevelopment loan — also provided by Tyko Capital for Oak Row Equities and OKO Group’s 10001 Brickell Bay Drive — to the $345 million construction loan for Terra Group and Russell Galbut’s Five Park.
