Chris Kelly
CEO and president at HomeServices of America

Nearly two decades after first working with HomeServices of America, Chris Kelly is now leading the company that has consistently ranked as one of the nation’s top residential brokerage services firms.
Kelly, who in 2007 became general counsel for HomeServices’ Kansas City, Mo.-based subsidiary, ReeceNichols, became CEO in April 2025. He took over a company that in 2024 facilitated more than 136,800 transactions in mortgage lending, title insurance, home warranties, escrow services and homeowners insurance, according to RealTrends Core Services rankings. That placed the firm atop all others in volume in those core transactions.
HomeServices also owns the Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices and Real Living Real Estate franchise networks (and the company itself is an affiliate of Berkshire Hathaway).
“Ultimately, the real estate transaction is one of the most emotional and exciting times for a buyer or seller, but it is also an incredibly complex process and there are a lot of moving parts, with a lot of different team members that have to come together in order to get to a successful closing,” Kelly said.
Prior to ascending to the CEO role at HomeServices, Kelly held senior leadership positions at Ebby Halliday Companies, Williams Trew, ReeceNichols Real Estate and Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate. He was executive vice president at HomeServices for two and a half years prior to his current role.
Kelly said he wants to focus on enhancing the firm’s variety of services as it seeks to stay atop the residential brokerage rankings in future years.
“Our guiding light,” he said, “is: How can we make the process less stressful, and simplify it for the consumer by pulling all of these disparate services into one team?”
