Julie Solomon has helped scale Ares Management’s real estate growth since joining the firm in 2013, and was elevated to a leadership role alongside Bill Benjamin in early 2024.
In her expanded position, Solomon manages a real estate platform with around $104 billion of assets under management globally. She helped close the Ares U.S. Real Estate Opportunity Fund IV in September 2024 by raising more than $3.3 billion for opportunistic real estate investments across the U.S. It marked the platform’s largest closed-end fundraise to date.
Prior to her promotion to co-lead Ares’ real estate business, Solomon was global chief operating officer for two years and played an instrumental role in helping triple assets under management since year-end 2020. She previously spent nearly a decade building up Ares’ investor relations team.
In the past year, Ares has doubled the size of its business, according to Solomon, by “bolstering” its presence in asset classes such as logistics, multifamily, student housing, data centers and self-storage.

Outside of her senior leadership role with Ares, Solomon is active in the broader real estate industry. She is a founding member of New York Private Equity Network Real Estate, where she serves on the advisory board. She is also a member of the Pension Real Estate Association and WX New York Women Executives in Real Estate.
