When it comes to representing the tenant, Savills is first in line.

“There has been and remains a relentless commitment toward advising the occupier,” David Goldstein said. “It’s been in our DNA for over 50 years, and it’s through a constant recommitment of resources that we are able to provide the highest level of service.”

In 2024, the brokerage completed 4.2 million square feet of leases across 264 transactions in the New York tri-state region on behalf of tenants — and 12 of those deals were for spaces covering more than 50,000 square feet.

Some of those large leases included American Eagle Outfitters’ 338,085-square-foot deal to relocate its headquarters to 63 Madison Avenue, law firm Winston & Strawn’s 237,815-square-foot renewal at 200 Park Avenue, and law firm Covington & Burling’s 235,479-square-foot sublease at 30 Hudson Yards.

But Savills is also no stranger to the luxury retail tenant, and Goldstein said rumors of the market’s “demise” are “greatly exaggerated.”

Last year, the firm facilitated a deal for luxury retail giant LVMH, which secured a 150,000-square-foot lease for four floors of 590 Madison Avenue. That deal came on the heels of French luxury designer Hermès’ 71,757-square-foot deal at 550 Madison Avenue, which Savills worked on in 2022.

There’s also been leadership changes for the New York tri-state operations of Savills, which falls under Janet Woods’s remit.

In March, Mitti Liebersohn was promoted to CEO of brokerage operations for the region and has continued to work closely with Goldstein — in a partnership the two call a “mutual love affair.”

“Mitti is a relentless advocate for the people in our community,” Goldstein said. “He’s really doubled down as a go-to professional and thought leader who celebrates people, purpose and community. A great mind and a big heart is a very rare thing to have.”

Liebersohn returned the compliment. “[David] is one of the greatest human beings I’ve had the good fortune of working with. He’s also one of the smartest and most articulate professionals in the industry. Being his partner is unbelievably gratifying, and all of this is truly very authentic.”
