Co-head of U.S. capital markets; vice chairman; co-president of global debt and structured finance at Newmark
Three of Newmark’s experts control a significant portion of the commercial real estate market in Los Angeles.
Kevin Shannon is one of the country’s leading investment sales brokers. With Rob Griffin, Doug Harmon and Adam Spies, Shannon heads a 31-person team that sets up sales and financings for investors throughout the Western U.S. Shannon has been involved in more than $86 billion in transactions in office, industrial, self-storage, multifamily, land and mixed-use since 2010 — including more than $5 billion just since 2023.
Jay Luchs is the most popular retail agent in Greater L.A., and it’s not even close. That’s based on the fact that for years Luchs’s name more than any other has appeared on for-lease signs in L.A.’s top retail districts, including Rodeo Drive, Santa Monica Boulevard, Melrose Avenue, Melrose Place, Sunset Boulevard and Wilshire Boulevard. And he routinely closes some of the region’s landmark deals for the world’s most popular fashion and entertainment brands.
In 2021, Luchs represented LVMH in its $200 million purchase of the Luxe Rodeo Drive Hotel. A year before, he arranged the sale of 457-459 Rodeo Drive to the Reuben Brothers for $122 million, and then Luchs leased it to a flagship luxury brand that took over this year. Luchs also assembled four properties on Rodeo Drive and surrounding Beverly Drive on behalf of LVMH in what will become a major new development. Luchs has also represented Christian Dior, Celine, Givenchy, Kith, Skims and Fred Segal.
Luchs specializes, too, in leasing office space for several of the same global fashion and entertainment companies. And he has found locations for some of L.A.’s ultra-high-end restaurants, including Craig’s on Melrose Avenue, Avra in Beverly Hills, Tao Group’s Lavo Sunset Strip, Drake’s Hollywood and Pura Vida.
Jonathan Firestone is co-head of Newmark’s global debt and structured finance business, co-headquartered in L.A. and New York. Firestone has nearly a quarter-century of experience arranging, structuring and negotiating $220 billion of real estate financing and loan sale transactions for all property types.
That includes the $400 million refinance of the Shutters on the Beach and Casa Del Mar luxury hotels that combine for 327 rooms in Santa Monica. Another includes a $585 million refinancing of a more than 2,600-unit multifamily portfolio across California and Texas.
