Tooey Courtemanche
Founder, chairman, CEO and president at Procore
Tooey Courtemanche founded construction management company Procore in 2002 with one mission: to connect everyone in the construction industry on a single global platform.
Since then, the Santa Barbara, Calif.-based company has connected over 2 million users across more than 150 countries and has “harnessed the power of data and AI to improve productivity and predictability for [its] customers,” Courtemanche said.
As artificial intelligence becomes more integrated into business, Procore has focused on acquiring AI predictive analytics companies such as Avata Intelligence to further digitize construction. And foreign tech companies are even noticing Procore’s moves in the proptech world.
“As always, we are deepening our partnerships with our customers to better understand and address their challenges,” Courtemanche said. “We have expanded margins significantly over the past two years, and we intend to continue to do so while we find opportunities [for investments].”
Procore saw great success after its 2019 acquisition of Honest Buildings, which provides project management software for owners and developers, and its 2021 seed round investment in — and partnership with — Shepherd, a startup that provides insurance terms for construction.
Over the past year, Procore says it has also increased platform flexibility for all types of construction through several initiatives, including launching the FedRAMP authorization process to enhance cloud security for customers. And the work won’t stop in 2025, the CEO said.
“We will continue to invest in partnering with our customers to deeply understand and solve their greatest challenges by developing the solutions that improve efficiency, productivity and predictability in their work,” Courtemanche said.
Courtemanche’s passion for construction doesn’t end at his job, either. In his free time, he said he still “geeks out” on construction projects and is even building a new hay barn at his ranch in California. Besides that, Courtemanche said he likes to spend time with his family, scuba dive, and even build what he describes as “elaborate” Lego sets.
