Senior associate in the global advisory and transaction services group at CBRE
In less than a decade, Anthony Manginelli went from barely knowing anything about commercial real estate to working on leasing one of the biggest developments in Manhattan.
Fresh out of Rutgers University in 2014, Manginelli landed a job doing portfolio work for commercial estate services firm DTZ, with the ultimate goal of eventually going to law school.
“While at Rutgers, I had no idea commercial leasing was even a thing,” Manginelli said. “I kind of fell into it.”
However, Manginelli quickly caught the real estate bug and went full steam ahead. After staying at DTZ for several months, Manginelli met with CBRE (CBRE) legend Robert Alexander and landed a job at that brokerage.
Since then, Manginelli has worked at CBRE’s global advisory and transaction services group, where he represented Related Companies and Oxford Properties in leasing on three office towers in the Hudson Yards megadevelopment.
In the past year, Magninelli has also worked on the nonprofit Getting Out and Staying Out’s 18,467-square-foot lease at 2283 Third Avenue, law firm Zukerman Gore Brandeis & Crossman’s 17,144-square-foot renewal at 11 Times Square, and portfolio manager Axium Infrastructure’s 7,263-square-foot lease at 537 Madison Avenue.
Even during the coronavirus pandemic, Manginelli has kept busy. He just locked down security company Kastle Systems as a national client, something he started working on when he first joined CBRE more than five years ago. “That’s exciting news that they’re putting their trust in us, and they’re still optimistic for the industry,” Manginelli said.
Manginelli also shared an optimism about New York real estate. He said he’s a “glass-half-full kind of guy” who is “bullish” on Manhattan’s market post-COVID-19 shutdown.
In his spare time, Manginelli tries to scuba dive as much as possible — hoping to eventually explore the Andrea Doria shipwreck location off Massachusetts — and lives with his fiancee in Weehawken, N.J. — N.R.
