A Beacon, N.Y., knickknack shop is making its New York City debut with a store in Manhattan’s Nolita neighborhood, Commercial Observer has learned.
Solstad House General Store signed a five-year, 1,200-square-foot lease at Emmanuel Stark’s 167 Mott Street, with an asking rent of $6,750 per month, according to broker Meridian Retail Leasing.
“We reached out to Solstad House directly because we thought the space was a perfect fit for their brand, and they moved fast,” Meridian’s Carson Shahrabani said in a statement. “We went from first email to a signed lease in about two weeks, and they’ll be open for the holidays.”
Meridian’s Shahrabani, Noam Aziz and Michael Escava represented both the landlord and tenant in the transaction.
“[Solstad House] already has a loyal following in Beacon, and a lot of those customers live in Manhattan,” Aziz said in a statement. “This store gives them a home in the city.”
Solstad House primarily sells home goods, food items, puzzles, personal care products and clothing, according to its website.
Stark purchased the property between Broome and Grand streets from Platinum Properties for $17 million in 2015. The seven-story building has 26 residential units and two retail units spanning between 500 and 600 square feet on the ground floor, not including cellars, according to CO coverage at the time and property records.
