The Brooklyn Nets and New York Liberty have scored a three-pointer in the borough.
The men’s and women’s professional basketball teams’ holding company, Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment, has acquired three new training facilities in Brooklyn — 100 Dobbin Street in Greenpoint, 53 Knickerbocker Avenue in Bushwick and 483 Baltic Street in Gowanus — from The Post BK, a network of indoor sports venues in Brooklyn, according to a source with knowledge of the deal.
The sale price was not disclosed, but the properties were purchased in all cash. The three buildings are operated and managed by The Post BK, but are owned by separate entities.
All three new facilities will open next year and be dedicated to the Nets’ and New York Liberty’s youth programs, the source said.
“This expansion reflects our long-term commitment to the community and our belief that every young person should have the opportunity to participate, learn and grow through sport,” Marissa Shorenstein, chief operating officer of Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment, said in a statement.
Newmark’s Dan O’Brien, David Behin, Caroline Hodes and Loren Valla brokered the deal, sources said.
Spokespeople for the Nets and The Post BK did not immediately respond to requests for comment, while Newmark declined to comment.
The one-story warehouse at 100 Dobbin Street comprises 15,000 square feet, while the one-story 53 Knickerbocker Avenue spans roughly 20,300 square feet, and the one-story 483 Baltic Street is 5,000 square feet.
It’s unclear what The Post BK’s plans are following the sale, as the three properties encompass its entire portfolio, with one source saying the acquisitions of the facilities — previously industrial properties that have since been converted to Basketball rental courts — mimics a M&A transaction due to the entirety of The Post BK’s portfolio being acquired.
