Kirkland & Ellis Hires Seth Niedermayer as Partner in Real Estate Group

After more than a decade at HSF Kramer, real estate attorney Seth Niedermayer has moved offices to Kirkland & Ellis.

Niedermayer joined the Chicago-based law firm’s real estate group as a partner this week, as shared in a LinkedIn post Monday evening and confirmed by a spokesperson for the firm. Kirkland & Ellis, which serves a range of clients in private equity and corporate transactions, operates a growing New York City practice at its 900 Third Avenue offices as well as an expanding real estate group.

At Kirkland & Ellis, Niedermayer will represent private equity and investor clients, as well as developers and operators, across real estate transactions, according to a spokesperson for the firm. His primary focus will be joint ventures and financing.

“Kirkland has an unrivaled platform to serve clients on their most sophisticated and important matters, and I’m excited to collaborate with the firm’s exceptionally talented lawyers,” Niedermayer told Commercial Observer in a statement. “I look forward to bringing my experience to the team and continuing to build on the firm’s tremendous momentum in real estate.”

Niedermeyer’s move follows more than a decade of work at HSF Kramer, which was still Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel when he arrived as an associate in 2015. He had limited real estate experience then, Niedermeyer told CO in June, but the firm’s practice evolved alongside the real estate market — particularly as private capital gained dominance. He was made partner in 2022. 

During his tenure, Niedermeyer represented Mitsui Fudosan America in its joint venture at 50 Hudson Yards. He also worked on Vici Properties and Apollo Global Management’s acquisition of the Venetian on the Las Vegas Strip in 2022.

Niedermeyer began his legal career as a summer associate at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, and was hired as a full-time associate after graduating from Columbia Law School. Niedermeyer also holds an undergraduate degree from Yale University.
