Department store retailer Kohl’s has sold a building in Coconut Creek, Fla., for $53.5 million, according to a property deed.
Baptist Health South Florida acquired the property at 6950 North State Road 7. The building spans 92,726 square feet and last sold in 2008 for $14.75 million, according to Broward County property records.
Kohl’s told Commercial Observer it will lease back the property through mid-November and then close the retail location there.
“The final day of operations will be Nov. 14,” Kohl’s said in an emailed statement. “Associates will have the opportunity to transfer to nearby Kohl's locations or will receive transition support.”
Baptist Health is a nonprofit based in Coral Gables, Fla., that has been expanding north. Its hospital in the Fort Lauderdale suburb of Sunrise, Fla., is set to open in 2029.
Baptist Health has not responded to a request for comment or more information on plans for the 8.2-acre site.
