Steven McKessey Joins Rudin as Head of Design and Construction

Owner and developer Rudin has appointed a new leader for its capital planning, design and construction efforts, Commercial Observer has learned.

Steven McKessey has joined the firm as head of design and construction, bringing over 20 years of experience at major construction and consulting firms, according to Rudin. McKessey will be overseeing the New York City landlord’s entire 13.1 million-square-foot commercial and residential portfolio.

McKessey start on Aug. 17, replacing Sevinc Yuksel, who joined Empire State Realty Trust in June.

“Steven comes to Rudin with a deep breadth of experience in creating premier developments in New York and the tri-state region,” Samantha Rudin Earls, co-CEO of Rudin, said in a statement. “He brings the leadership skills and technical expertise to deliver the highest standards of excellence to our customers across our portfolio.”

McKessey spent the last seven years at Cumming Group, most recently as executive vice president, where he helped oversee the office-to-residential conversion of One Wall Street for Macklowe Properties.

From 2004 to 2014, McKessey worked for Turner Construction, and later spent a year as a design and construction consultant for McKinsey & Company.

“Across four generations of leadership, Rudin has continuously raised the standard for New York City office and residential developments,” McKessey said in a statement.
