Nadeem Meghji is departing from Blackstone less than a year after being named sole head of global head of real estate.
Meghji’s exit from the investment leviathan follows an exodus of other executives, including Kathleen McCarthy, who until November was global co-head of real estate with Meghji, the Wall Street Journal first reported.
David Levine, who co-heads real estate in the Americas for Blackstone, and Giovanni Cutaia, president of Blackstone’s real estate business, have been elevated to Meghji’s place.
Blackstone did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but Blackstone President Jonathan Gray told the Wall Street Journal that, “Despite this departure, we have a business with an enormous amount of continuity and tremendous talent. … David and Gio are prime examples of that.”
Meghji joined Blackstone in 2008 in the midst of the Great Recession, and the Journal reports that he is leaving his post to focus on family.
In his nearly two decades at Blackstone, Meghji had a hand in expanding its data center strategy, which reached a $185 billion value as of July 2026.
At the same time, the company was reporting 20 percent year-over-year growth across total revenues, fee revenues, fee-related earnings, net realization and distributable earnings.
