Fashion boutique Atelier New York is upgrading its retail footprint in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village.

The multi-brand luxury boutique will be the inaugural tenant in the commercial component of the Straus Group’s newly constructed 181 MacDougal Street luxury condominium building, Commercial Observer has learned. Asking rent for the 2,130-square-foot retail space was $250 per square foot, according to landlord broker Newmark.

Newmark’s Ariel Schuster, Jackie Totolo and Jordyn Comras negotiated the lease on behalf of the landlord. Atelier did not work with a tenant broker.

Atelier’s new storefront sits at the corner of MacDougal and Eighth Street, one block north of Washington Square Park. The retailer was founded along Crosby Street in 2002 as a purveyor of luxury designers’ new and exclusive collections, according to its website.

Atelier currently operates two locations near its new 181 MacDougal Street space: a women’s store across the street at 29 West Eighth Street and a men’s store down the block at 20 West Eighth Street. The boutique’s ownership declined to comment on its plans for these locations, including whether it will relocate from either of its existing sites. The retailer estimates the new store at 181 MacDougal Street will open in four to six months.

Atelier’s other New York City locations include Tangram Mall in Flushing, Queens, and another nearby Flushing storefront at 138-37 39th Avenue. The retailer also has a location in Seattle.
