Berkadia Defines a New Era in Private Equity Advisory and Capital Solutions

Berkadia recently welcomed Senior Managing Directors Gordon Reynolds and Brian Myers, along with Vice President Conner Adkins, to establish Berkadia Strategic Capital. The new platform is focused exclusively on equity and specializes in advising clients on a range of private capital solutions, including joint venture equity, programmatic capital, preferred equity, co-GP capital, and recapitalizations across commercial real estate asset classes and investment strategies.

Berkadia Strategic Capital rounds out the firm’s seamlessly integrated investment sales, mortgage banking, and servicing platforms. Rooted in long-standing relationships and unique access to domestic and foreign capital sources — spanning private equity, investment managers, pension funds, life insurance companies, sovereign wealth funds, REITs and family offices — Reynolds, Myers and Adkins are taking an innovative, collaborative approach to equity placement and advisory.

Berkadia Strategic Capital is redefining the landscape of private equity advisory and capital solutions by leveraging cutting-edge connectivity and data aggregation technologies. This innovative approach provides real-time insights, enabling clients to make informed decisions swiftly. By seamlessly integrating these capabilities with their existing platforms, Berkadia offers a differentiated market presence, setting a new standard in the industry and defining a “new era” of strategic capital advisory.

Berkadia’s private ownership structure — a joint venture of Berkshire Hathaway and Jefferies Financial — means the firm can navigate market fluctuations and economic uncertainties with resilience and prioritize client stability and long-term gains. By leveraging Jefferies’ renowned capital restructuring and investment banking teams, clients have unique access to broader capital insights and solutions.

Berkadia’s strategic alliance with Knight Frank, the world’s largest privately owned global property consultancy, brings new opportunities for clients to expand their global reach and influence — with direct access to institutional investors, ultra-high-net-worth individuals, and family offices across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific, all of whom are increasingly allocating capital to U.S. real estate.

Looking ahead to 2026, Berkadia Strategic Capital anticipates a greater volume of opportunities requiring the need for strategic recapitalizations, where owners seek liquidity and investors pursue stabilized, income-generating assets at compelling valuations. Institutional partners are expected to persist in pursuing opportunistic acquisitions, targeting assets priced below replacement cost with robust return profiles, along with select development opportunities.

The new platform represents a significant step for Berkadia, which remains a leading full-service capital markets adviser.
