CBRE (CBRE) Global Investors has promoted Kim Hourihan to global chief investment officer, the company announced Wednesday.

Hourihan, who has worked as CIO for the Americas Direct Real Estate Strategies since July 2020, will succeed Jeremy Plummer when he retires at the end of the year after a nearly 40-year career. Hourihan was elevated after 14 years at CBRE Global Investors and a 25-year run in the commercial real estate industry.

“Kim is an inspiring colleague and investor who is very well placed to replicate her successes and drive our ability to deliver sustainable real assets investment performance across our full global platform,” Chuck Leitner, CEO of CBRE Global Investors, said in a statement.

After leading one of CBRE Global Investors’ flagship funds for the past 14 months, Hourihan will now gear up for her new role in spearheading all real assets investment strategies globally, as well as driving the firm’s portfolio management functions. She will also chair CBRE Global Investors’ global investment committee and continue her previous role co-chairing the company’s global diversity, equity and inclusion council.

Replacing Hourihan in her current position starting in October will be Julie Ingersoll, who will arrive from CPP Investments, where she was managing director overseeing portfolio strategy design and execution for 50 million square feet of U.S. real estate investments. Ingersoll was previously CEO and COO of RREEF Property Trust and also held senior positions at DWS.

Larissa Belova will also join Hourihan’s team as portfolio manager for a U.S. core strategy. Her promotion, which is effective immediately, is part of a succession plan enacted when she joined two years ago as deputy portfolio manager.

“These executive appointments reflect a thoughtful, proactive succession strategy and commitment to invest in top professionals, balancing high-caliber external expertise with talented executives at our firm,” Leitner said.
