Dog day care and pet spa Hounds Town USA has taken 4,500 square feet at Churchill Real Estate Holdings 57 Jay Street in Dumbo, Brooklyn.

The day care’s furry friends will be the only retail tenant in the six-story apartment building, taking 1,500 square feet on the ground floor and 3,000 square feet of basement space, according to the tenants brokerage team. Asking rent for the 10-year lease was $85 per square foot.

The lease, finalized in late May, was pawsible because of the high number of dogs in the neighborhood, said Katz & AssociatesDavid Yablon, who was part of the team that brokered the lease for the tenant.

“Hounds Town coming to Dumbo is definitely the right place and right time,” said Yablon in a statement. “With many pandemic pups purchased and people looking for canine care and services at fair prices, Hounds Town will be a great asset.”

Hounds Town plans to open in December or January, after building out its location at the corner of Jay and Water streets, which was formerly occupied by a picture frame shop. The dog day care opened its first location in 2000 in New York and now has 75 locations across 12 states.

Yablon and RESOLUT RE’s Sherry Naquin Sanchez represented the tenant in the deal. The landlord did not use a broker, said Yablon.
