American Eagle Outfitters has signed a 10-year lease at BFC PartnersEmpire Outlets in Staten Island, according to information from BFC.

The apparel company will occupy 11,031 square feet with space for both its brands, American Eagle Outfitters and Aerie. It is scheduled to open in the spring when the nearly 1.1-million-square-foot shopping center—the first outlet mall in New York City—will be completed, Staten Island Advance first reported.

James Prendamano of Casandra Properties was the leasing broker for BFC and American Eagle was represented in-house. A spokesman for BFC Partners declined to provide asking rents for the deal.

BFC is developing the outlet mall on a former parking lot adjacent to the St. George Ferry Terminal. Last month, underwear retailer Jockey inked space in the project, as CO reported, joining brands like Levi’s, Brooks Brothers and Nordstrom Rack. In addition, eateries like Shake Shack, Artichoke Basille’s Pizza, Mamoun Falafel, and the food hall MRKTPL have signed on to open at the Staten Island shopping center.

“We are thrilled to welcome AEO into our Empire Outlets family, and we are confident that their addition will make the existing lineup of Empire Outlets stores even stronger,” Joseph Ferrara, a principal of BFC Partners, said in a prepared statement.

The opening date of Empire Outlets has been delayed several times due to unforeseen construction delays, as CO has previously reported. It is now scheduled to open in the spring of 2019, per BFC.

A spokeswoman for American Eagle did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
