The Financial District has gone through many changes and is unrecognizable from even five years ago, especially when it comes to retail.

“We were woefully under-retailed for a very long time,” said Jessica Lappin, the president of Alliance for Downtown New York. “By the end of next year, we’ll be able to say that in a five year period we have 75 percent more retail here, 1,200 shops and restaurants.”
