A popular T-shirt website known for its parody wear and tributes to Star Wars, Pulp Fiction and The Simpsons has inked a deal to relocate and expand within the Flatiron District.

Commercial Observer has learned that BustedTees.com has signed a 4,700-square-foot lease at the 40,000-square-foot 36 East 20th Street. That puts the 10-year-old T-shirt company, established by the creators of the popular Collegehumor.com website, in the entire penthouse of the eight-story building between Park Avenue South and Broadway, according to a press release from Handler Real Estate Organization.

The lease is for five years, and a Handler Real Estate spokesman said asking rent in the deal was in the mid-$60s per square foot.

Darrell Handler and Peter Newman of Handler Real Estate represented the landlord, listed in CoStar Group as G & C Realty Corp., while Ramsey Feher and William Iacovelli of CBRE represented the tenant. Feher and Iacovelli did not immediately return a request for comment via a spokeswoman.

“BustedTees.com is a dynamic, growing internet-based T-shirt company that wanted larger, energizing space in a great, well-run building, while remaining in the Flatiron District,” Handler said in prepared remarks.

The online retailer is moving from 54 West 22nd Street between Avenue of the Americas and Fifth Avenue—roughly half a mile away from its new digs. BustedTees.com leases about 2,500 square feet at that location, the Handler Real Estate spokesman said.
