Steven Schwartz has exited his role as head of Torchlight Investors’ special servicing group, Commercial Observer can first report. Abbey Kosakowski, a senior vice president with the firm, will now assume Schwartz’s role and lead special servicing operations.

Schwartz is launching a new commercial mortgage-backed securities-focused fund for the firm and will continue to lead Torchlight’s acquisitions group, a spokeswoman told CO.

Schwartz, a managing director and a member of the Torchlight Investment Committee, has been with the firm since 2011.  Prior to Torchlight, he worked at J.P. Morgan, where he was responsible for building the bank’s CMBS and commercial real estate balance sheet lending business.

Kosakowski has 21 years of industry experience and has also been with Torchlight since 2011. Prior to Torchlight, she worked at J.P. Morgan, Lehman Brothers and as a practicing attorney.
