Welcome, Wahlbergs: Burger Bros Opening First Manhattan Location

reprints

Wahlburgers, the Massachusetts-based burger chain founded by celebrity brothers Mark, Paul and Donnie Wahlberg, has taken 8,300 square feet at 725 Eighth Avenue for its first Manhattan location.

The restaurant, bar and store will occupy all five levels of the Thor Equities-owned building between West 45th and 46th Streets for a 10-year period, as The New York Post first reported. Asking rent in the deal was not immediately clear. Ground-floor retail rents in the area are about $400 per square foot, according to the Post.

“We are pleased to welcome Wahlburgers to 725 Eighth Avenue in the Theater District,” Melissa Gliatta of Thor Equities said in a prepared statement. “They could not have chosen a better location for their first Manhattan restaurant, due to the building’s prime location on one of the most heavily trafficked streets in Midtown.”

The transaction was a direct deal between Thor Equities and the Wahlberg brothers. Wahlburgers, which has been featured on an A&E reality TV show of the same name, recently opened its first location in New York City at 3015 Stillwell Avenue (also owned by Thor) in Coney Island.

The Wahlbergs have been known to have various talents. Mark was a model in a past life and is formerly known as the rapper Marky Mark. He has starred in a number of Hollywood blockbusters such as The Departed and Ted. Donnie, who was a founder member of the band New Kids on the Block, stars in the TV series Blue Bloods. And Paul is the executive chef of Wahlburgers.
