reprintsA 41,000-square-foot Nordstrom Rack is slated to open at United American Land’s 505 Fulton Street in spring 2014.
“We want to be in the top locations across the country, so this spot at the heart of downtown Brooklyn is big for us,” said Geevy Thomas, president of Nordstrom Rack, in a prepared statement. “We are thrilled to become back of this exciting community at a historic location, and we intend to make the most of the opportunity to serve customers and give them a reason to shop the Rack.”
The new Nordstrom Rack location will occupy second floor retail space at the Fulton Mall address and will join fellow retailers T.J. Maxx and H&M. The discount division of Nordstrom Inc. has operated in New York since opening in Union Square in 2010.
“We are thrilled and honored to have a tenant of the stature of Nordstrom Rack join this unique project on the Fulton Street Mall, the most vibrant retail strip in the most dynamic and cool ‘City’ of Brooklyn,” added Albert Laboz, principal of UAL, in the statement.
The 300,000-square-foot landmarked building at 505 Fulton Street is currently undergoing a renovation and restoration process under UAL’s stewardship. In addition to retail space on the lower floors, the address will feature luxury rentals on the upper floors.
Last year, Nordstrom announced it will open its first New York full-line store in 2018 at 225 West 57th Street. Currently, the retailer operates 15 full-line and Rack stores in the New York area.
