As previously reported by The Commercial Observer, Janet Ray Kalson, an attorney representing Zoe Pappas and 33 other Hotel Chelsea tenants on April 3 filed a contempt of court motion against ownership of the famed property. The “notice of motion to punish for contempt punishable by fine and/or imprisonment and other relief”  was filed by the petitioners-tenants against Chelsea Dynasty LLC, Chelsea Management LLC, Meyer Chetrit, Michael Butler and Lily Sirkin.

All parties are due in court at 111 Centre Street on April 25, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. The motion notes the Chelsea ownership’s failure to comply with the housing court’s May 7, 2012 mandate that repairs to the building be completed by June 30, 2012 and lists civil penalties owed for damages caused by unsafe work conditions and the legal fees incurred by injured tenants. “Failure to appear in court,” the document says, “may result in your immediate arrest and imprisonment.”
