The restaurant earned 115 points on its most recent Department of Health inspection, more than four times the allowed number of violation points, which is 28, and has subsequently been shuttered.

The Journal notes that, surprisingly, the place got a perfect score the last time out, which is nearly impossible under the new, vilified rating regime. Perhaps there was a little too much laurel-resting going on. According to the DOH’s website, Fatty Cue is the seventh worst offender in the city, and the fourth worst in the borough.

Meanwhile, Grub Street got in touch with the gang at the smoke joint, who quipped, “We just couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate winning Best New Brooklyn Restaurant.”

No comment on what they put in those delicious dipping sauces.
