Oren’s Finds Times Square Peddling Spot in Monday Tower

Oren’s Daily Roast, a favorite of crabby Grand Central commuters, didn’t have to look far for a new mecca of caffeine addicts: Times Square. The local chain has signed a 12-year lease for 1,179 square feet at 1440 Broadway, at West 40th Street, Crain’s reports.

The coffee chain was recently replaced in Grand Central by Financier Patisserie, leaving, of course, a dearth of coffee places in the midtown area. It will be one of nine locations in the city for Oren’s, but none perhaps with such a tantalizingly hyper-caffeinated combination of tourists, shoppers and office workers.

“They’re a very popular brand in New York, with a loyal following,” said Jeffrey Roseman of Newmark Knight Frank, who represented the tenant along with Benjamin Birnbaum.

The landlord was represented in-house by Jordan Berger of Monday Properties. The asking rent was $200 per square foot.
