36 Cooper Square

Much buzzed-about social networking site Foursquare has signed for 7,675 square feet on the sixth floor of 36 Cooper Square. The company, which turns nightlife into a game of “checking in” to various locations and collecting badges, outgrew a space on the fifth floor, which it subleased through real estate blog Curbed, along with design company Hard Candy Shell.

But no hard feelings: Foursquare has invited Curbed and Hard Candy Shell to share space on the sixth floor.

Jason Schwartzenberg and Marc Shapses of Studley represented the tenant. Daniel Creighton of Tarter Stats O’Toole represented the landlord, Hartz Mountain.

“It’s a win-win for these two Web-based companies,” Mr. Schwartzenberg said, “which have each resolved their particular real estate requirements with the most efficient and economically viable real estate strategies.”
