55 West 125th Street

The Veritas Therapeutic Community, a substance-abuse treatment organization that once employed Abbie Hoffman in its prison work-release program, signed a major deal in Harlem. The organization is moving to perhaps the most famous office building in the neighborhood, best known for its star tenant, Bill Clinton.

“Veritas was looking for a location where it could consolidate its six offices located throughout the neighborhood into a single headquarters location,” said Eric Ferriello of FirstService Williams, who represented the nonprofit, along with Robert T. Tunis and Richard M. Warshauer.

Veritas provides recovering substance abusers with job training and educational and vocational skills, and helps parents reunite with children in foster care. It signed a 10-year lease for 12,285 square feet on the 10th floor.

Ross Jacobs represented the landlord, Cogswell Realty, in-house.
