After outgrowing its Madison Avenue digs, communications equipment maker Harris Corporation is moving uptown, where it hopes to be nearer to its client base. The company was also seeking a “higher image” building, which it apparently found at 555 Fifth Avenue, a 19-story Emery Roth & Sons-designed structure.

The Chicago-based UGL Equis represented Harris from its early site search and onward. “This is the right time to be in the market and Harris was pleased to find a space with existing conditions so closely matching their preferred space program,” said Tadd Wisinski, a broker on the 17,460-square-foot deal. “Marrying those conditions with aggressive economics made it a home run for the tenant and provided the landlord with a credit-worthy income stream difficult to find in today’s environment.”

David Starr of UGL also represented Harris. Building owner Atco Properties & Management was repped in-house by Peter Goldich.

GlobeSt had news of the deal on Feb. 22.
