Michael Kors, the designer whose crossover appeal extends from Jessica Simpson to Long Island grandmothers, is expanding his headquarters. Project Runway notoriety has apparently been good to the designer, whose streamlined all-American brand with a country-club bent has grown in recent years to include accessories, handbags, menswear, and lower-priced lines (Michael Michael Kors and Kors Michael Kors – shaking things up has never been Mr. Kors’ style). In addition to the designer’s newfound TV-personality currency, fashion is having something of a Mad Men moment, one that befits Mr. Kors’ prim pencil skirts and patrician cardigans.

All this, in the parlance of square footage, translates into an extension from 62,000 square feet of office space to 90,000 square feet beginning in 2012. Michael Kors moved to the midtown building in 2003, the same year the company was purchased by Silas Chou and Lawrence Stroll, former investors in British jeweler Asprey. Cushman & Wakefield’s Glenn Markman and Danielle Zimbaro represented Michael Kors in negotiations. Building owner Tishman Speyer was repped in-house by Greg Conen and Calvin Farley. The fashion company’s lease was extended through 2025.
