Fisher Brothers

Fisher Brothers is one of the most prominent developers and landlords in the country with some 9 million square feet of class A office space, retail and residential development, according to their website.

Brothers Martin, Larry and Zachary Fisher founded the company in 1915 as a construction firm. The firm largely focused on residential projects in Queens, Long Island, Riverdale and Mount Vernon in the 1930s and 1940s, but also built the Sherry Frontenac hotel in Miami.

Starting in the 1950s, Fisher Brothers began investing time and money into developing office buildings in Manhattan. Their first such project was 400 Park Avenue, but they also developed 605 Third Avenue, 1345 Avenue of the Americas, 299 Park Avenue and Park Avenue Plaza.

In the 1980s and 1990s, as per their website, Fisher Brothers spun off the construction and management arms of the business with Plaza Construction as their full-service construction arm and Sandhurst Associates as their property management arm.

Beyond New York, Fisher Brothers’ reach extends to Washington, D.C., where they developed a 5.5-acre, 1.6 million-square-foot office complex as well as a residential project called Station House, and Las Vegas where they own 75 acres of land off the Las Vegas Strip and were as of early 2021 in the middle of building a massive entertainment complex called AREA 15.

As of 2021, the company was run by cousins Arnold, Kenneth, Steven and Winston Fisher.
