Within the next 18 months, JLL (JLL) will be adding five more brokers to its lower Manhattan brokerage office at 140 Broadway, Commercial Observer has learned.

The office, on the 26th floor, houses 11 full-time brokers. That number was at four when John Wheeler, a managing director at the firm, was tapped to run the office in March 2012.

Mr. Wheeler said the additional five brokers will help to continue growing the firm’s market share in lower Manhattan.

“The business warrants it,” he said. “There are advantages of having local expertise, local familiarity. It’s a 100 million-square-foot market. There’s enough business here.”

In addition to the tenant representation and agency leasing JLL does from its 140 Broadway digs, the firm has other operations handling project management activity for downtown landlords and tenants as well as facilities management and consulting operations for major downtown corporations.
